Giving critiques and getting critiques is part of the process that brings the community of artists together. So, whether you bring your art or view someone else’s, join the discussion and learn from each other during this free public event. The monthly informal critiques welcome moderators from the Denver art community alongside Art Gym staff while guests enjoy the provided snacks and drinks. Critique sessions are limited to ten people showing work, so sign up today and join us on Wednesday, May 14, from 6-9PM with guest moderator, Curator and Educator, Sarah Magnatta.

Sarah Magnatta is an assistant professor of art history at the University of Denver specializing in global contemporary art and museum studies. She previously worked at the Denver Art Museum and has independently curated several exhibitions, including Tenzing Rigdol’s first solo U.S. exhibition, My World Is in Your Blind Spot (2019) in Denver and New York City and Gonkar Gyatso: Intimacy and Immediacy (2023) in Denver and Cedar City, Utah. Her work with Rigdol and other artists is informing her current book project, tentatively titled Contemporary Art of the Tibetan Diaspora. She has published several catalog essays in addition to articles in Art Journal, the Journal of Aesthetics and Culture, and the Journal of South Asian Studies.
